We will be facilitating trauma informed self settling and self regulation techniques including yoga, breathwork, seated and movement meditation.  All are welcome. All abilities. This workshop if free and open to the Island Community. No experience necessary.  Some mats and props available to borrow but do bring your own if you have one.  Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle if possible.

Participants may attend any/all sessions and must register separately for each one

***Classes will take place outdoors on the grass at Mukai Farm and Gardens. This was once the largest strawberry farm in Washington State. It's now the only pre-war Japanese American farm remaining in the entire country which is open to the public. Over the past ten years Mukai went from being listed as one of the state's most threatened historic properties, to receiving King County’s Historic Preservation Award for the restoration of the first Japanese garden designed by a woman in America. Our work is to steward this place and to present programming that brings history alive and rebuilds a modern inclusive community.

Facilitators:

Leah Okamoto Mann is a dancer, choreographer, somatic practitioner, and arts educator. They are certified with 200 and 300 hour yoga training certificates, and also holds certificates in Embodied Social Justice and Integrated Trauma Informed Somatics.

Riya Kuo has been practicing yoga since 2007, and credentialed to teach since 2014. She serves as board president for Friends of Mukai, which stewards Mukai Farm & Garden, and is a former board member for Yoga Behind Bars.

Reverend Amelia Bolyard is a mutli-genre, visual and performing artist. She is parent coach and an embodiment coach for children and adults, utilizing a trauma informed framework called the NeuroRelational Framework (NRF). She will be facilitating an accessible restorative practice of movement, yoga, pilates, feldenkrais and functional movement.
