Missing & Murdered Native Women & Girls

Today, May 5th, we honor the lives of missing & murdered Native women & girls. The murder rate of Native women is 10x the national average on some reservations. These crimes are often connected to domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, etc. Failed federal laws continue to govern the lives & safety of Native women = legal loopholes for non Native perpetrators who target Native women with impunity. The long-standing national crisis of #MMIWG can be attributed to the historical & intergenerational trauma caused by colonization + its legacy of violence, oppression & racism stretching back 500+ years. We need protections for Native women & girls and we need it now! #MMIWGActionNow
