October First Friday at DOVE

“Dignity, Opportunity, Voice, and Empowerment” Art Show for

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

As the purple lights blink on throughout Uptown for the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we hope to see you all at our kickoff event at Vashon’s First Friday art walk - “Dignity, Opportunity, Voice, and Empowerment.”

We invite you all to stop by the DOVE office on Friday, October 1 from 6-9pm for this collection of pieces from local artists that reflect DOVE’s acronym and mission. Our featured artists include: Hope Black, Lorijo Daniels, Iota Paetkau, Cyra Jane, and others. Island musical duo the “Real Loves,” featuring Cassie Paetkau and Maya Battisti, will play live music outside for visitors to enjoy.

We look forward to seeing you and taking in these pieces together, and will be offering Jefferson Cakepan cupcakes and refreshments outside for the community to gather and connect safely. Masks will be required to view art inside the office, and encouraged for folks gathering outside to reduce community risk.

If you are not able to attend this in-person event, we will be featuring each art piece on our DOVE Instagram page (@vashondove) throughout October and will include short video interviews with the artists to hear more about their process, vision, and connection to the theme.

Help us kick off this DVAM by celebrating Dignity, Opportunity, Voice, and Empowerment with these incredible artists. We are excited to see you!
